Privacy Statement

Your privacy is important to us. Reader Mode collects absolutely zero personal data from users and only collects the anonymous click stream data - strictly only when given Consent by the User (via a Consent Pop up) and is being sent to our backend via an API post call for analysis and to ensure smooth operation of the features of the extension:

100% ANONYMOUS DATA which is collected automatically:

  • web browser type and version.
  • Users’ IPs which are not stored, but are used to derive non-identifiable items of information, such as your approximate geographic location.
  • Randomly assigned unique identifier of the extension – Unique ID, which in no way doesn’t allow us to identify the user.
  • the URLs that have been viewed by our users, but on an anonymized basis, such that we do not know which user accessed which domain (we also aggregate this information on an approximately monthly basis). We do this to monitor, support and optimize Reader Mode.

  • Web browser type and version are used to provide, enable and enhance operation of our services and to get statistical information about user experience.
  • Unique ID is collected in order to provide, enable and enhance operation of our Services and to get statistical information about user experience.
  • We collect URLs visited by users to operate Reader Mode smoothly and ensure our marketing is aligned.

Lastly, we do not sell or rent your personal data to any third parties. We do, however, need to share your non-personal data to run our everyday business. We share your non-personal data with our analytics service and third-party service providers for everyday business purposes, including to Marketing of our services, Analytics and business Intelligence.

For Reader Mode Free, Pro and Education, all data such as highlights, notes and pages are stored locally on the computer which you have installed Reader Mode on. For Reader Mode Premium, these data are stored on our secure server and only you can access these data via your connected account. Meanwhile for shared pages, a random, unique, and anonymous string is used to verify identity, not anything related to your personal information.

Data protection and privacy laws provide you with the ability to exercise some rights regarding your Personal Data that we hold (which might be different in each jurisdiction) such as; right to access your Personal Data; right of rectification; the right to erasure of your Personal Data; right to restrict processing of your Personal Data; the right to object to processing of your Personal Data; data portability; the right to file a complaint to a supervisory authority (in the event you are EEA resident); and, the right to withdraw consent. If you wish to exercise any or all of the above rights, please fill out the Data Subject Request Form (“DSR”) form available here, and send it to our Data Protection Officer at: [email protected] and let us know that you wish to exercise your right of access and specify what Personal Data you would like to receive.

Where we are not able to provide you with the information for which you have asked, we will endeavor to explain the reasoning for this and inform you of your rights, including the right to complain to the supervisor authority. We reserve the right to ask for reasonable evidence to verify your identity before we provide you with any such information in accordance with applicable law. In addition, the process of locating and deleting the data may take up to one (1) month (following the receipt of the validation proof we require) in accordance with applicable law.
